Video conference solution compatibility | GoBoard Education, when integrated with a wide range of VC systems, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, allows remote learners to be able to take part in the lesson, view the whiteboard and share their screen from wherever they are. When student devices are connected to the same network as the GoBoard Education Hub, they can use the GoBoard companion app. This means the teacher can give student the ability to interact with (and add their own content to) the whiteboard. Students using the companion app can also respond to any polls and quizzes the teacher uses as part of the lesson. |

What happens when my trial expires? | At the end of 30 days the software will automatically become disabled unless a valid licence key is purchased. |

What is the GoBoard Education Hub? | The GoBoard Education Hub is the central access point for all connected devices and lessons. The Hub is designed to be run on a Windows 10 computer that is connected to the display. |
What is the GoBoard Education Teacher Console? | The Teacher Console component of the GoBoard Education software is designed to be run on a secondary Windows 10 computer – ideally the teachers’ laptop - that connects to the Hub computer that resides in a teaching room. The Teacher Console allows teachers to set up classes and create lesson plans that can then be cast to the hub and shared with students in the classroom. Installing the Teacher Console module on a teachers’ laptop means they can work on their content wherever they are. |
Can the same PC be used to run both the Hub and the Teacher Console? | Yes, the Hub and Teacher Console can both reside on the same Windows 10 PC. However, it is recommended that the Hub and Console be on separate computers, as this allows the teacher to move freely about the room with a laptop/tablet, while the Hub remains connected to the display. It is also ideal for when teachers move between classrooms. With the Console on their own PC they can move from room to room taking their files with them along the way. |
Does everyone connecting to the GoBoard Education session need a licence? | A valid GoBoard Education licence is only required for the Hub and Teacher Console portion of the GoBoard Education solution. |
How do students connect to GoBoard Education? | Students can easily connect to GoBoard Education using apps available on Windows 10 laptops/tablets, Chromebooks, Android devices and iOS devices. |
Are Student Apps free? | Yes, the GoBoard Education student Apps are available for free from the Google Play Store, the App Store or the GoBoard Education site on Epson.eu depending on your device. |
Where do you get the student apps? | Student apps for Windows 10 PCs, iOS, Chromebooks and Android devices are available from the Epson.eu website (Windows 10), Apple and Google Play stores. |
Is the Teacher Console available for Chromebooks, iPads or Apple Macs? | No, the Teacher Console requires use of a Windows 10 PC. |
Can I get a Site licence for GoBoard Education Software? | When you order your GoBoard Education licence, you will be asked how many devices you want to install the hub on. A single licence code will be used for all of the devices you install on. Please speak to your preferred authorised Reseller to discuss pricing for large orders. |
Can I get one key to manage all my GoBoard Education licences? | Yes – when you place your order you will need to specify the number of devices you wish to install the GoBoard Education Hub on. A single licence key will be created that can then be used on this number of devices. |
Can I use GoBoard Education with a flat panel? | Yes. Since GoBoard Education is installed on a PC that connects to a display, it can also be used with interactive flat panel displays. |
Does GoBoard Education require a network connection? | GoBoard Education requires that the Hub PC, Teacher Console PC, and any student devices be on the same network. The display does not need to be networked. |
Can students be on a separate network than the teacher? | GoBoard Education requires that the Hub PC, Teacher Console PC, and any student devices be connected on the same network. |
Can GoBoard Education be used for distance learning? | GoBoard Education is compatible with leading video conferencing systems including Zoom, Skype, Meets, Teams, and many others. This allows the whiteboard to be viewed by any students that may be learning remotely. Remote students would have view-only rights and can share their screens via the video conferencing system you are using. |
How will I receive my licence key? | Upon purchase, GoBoard Education licence keys are emailed from Epson to the Epson Reseller, who will then be able to roll out your installation, or provide you with the licence key so you can roll out the software. |
I lost my licence key, what do I do now? | Contact your Epson reseller and reference your PO/Sales order number. |
I bought GoBoard Education last year and forgot to install it. Is my licence key still valid? | The term of your GoBoard Education licence begins upon the first activation date of the licence code you were supplied. The activation date must take place within 5 years of purchase. |
How do I renew my licence? | Licence renewals are available through your Epson reseller. |
How many PCs can I install the Teacher Console on? | For each Hub licence purchased, you can install the Console software on up to 5 devices. Installing a combined Hub & Console consumes 2 of the available installations. |
Do I need a GoBoard Education Hub (licence) for each classroom? | Yes, GoBoard Education requires a valid licence for each Hub that will be installed. |
What files/content can I open natively in GoBoard Education? | GoBoard Education allows users to open all files for which you have a valid licence. This includes but is not limited to MS-Office files, videos, integrated browser, PDFs, photos, .RMG (GoBoard Education native files) and more! |
Can GoBoard Education mirror student devices? | Yes, Students can cast their screens to the shared whiteboard using free student apps. GoBoard Education can mirror PCs, Mac, Chromebooks, iOS, and Android devices. |
My Hub PC crashed. Now what do I do? | If your PC has failed and you need to replace it, you can port your valid GoBoard Education licence key over to the new Hub PC. Contact Epson support with your licence key information so that our key can be reset. |
Can I save my lesson plans? | Yes. Lesson plans can be exported and saved as flattened PDF files, or saved as dynamic .RMG files, which will allow them to be re-opened, displayed and edited as needed. |
Can I save my lessons to the cloud? | Yes. Users can configure the Teacher Console to back up all of your files to network drives or Google Drive. Storing to the cloud allows teachers to access files from any console PC after having logged into their Console account. |
From File Explorer, I clicked on an native GoBoard Education .RMG file to open it. The GoBoard Education application started but the whiteboard is blank. Why? Where is my file? | To open existing GoBoard Education lesson files (.RMG) you must open them from within the teacher console. You can then connect the console to the Hub and share the lesson with other connected devices. |
What happens if I do not renew my GoBoard Education licence? | You can continue to use the GoBoard Education application; however, certain premium features will be disabled. |
Which features become disabled if I do not renew my GoBoard Education licence? | Screen-sharing protocols such as GoogleCast, AirPlay and Miracast, Connectivity with Online backup to cloud (Google Drive), Web search (for image, websites & video), Teacher Console functions such as classroom management, polls and chat, 3rd party converters (SMART & .iwb files) will all be disabled. You will also no longer receive any future updates to the software. However, you will still be able to access your content, and continue to use other, basic functions. |
My licence lapsed but I want to renew GoBoard Education again. What do I do? | Contact your Epson reseller and provide the information of the expired licence keys. Your Epson reseller will be able to sell a new licence code in place of the expired licence keys. |
What is an RMG file? | An RMG file is a native GoBoard Education file format and used when you save a lesson. GoBoard Education software must be installed in order to open RMG files. |
Can I open a SMART Notebook file in GoBoard Education? | SMART Notebook files may be imported into in GoBoard Education; however, some Notebook items may lose functionality. Not supported: Binary/encrypted files, Adobe Flash objects, page animations. |
Can I open a Promethean file in GoBoard Education? | Promethean files that have been previously exported to .iWB format can be imported and displayed in GoBoard Education. Native Promethean files cannot be opened in GoBoard Education. Some animations may appear flattened or unable to display. |
What voice commands are available in GoBoard Education? | GoBoard Education supports the use of voice commands for many common functions such as selecting pen tools, erasing, etc. To see a list of all supported commands, refer to the GoBoard Education users guide, or say the word “help” after activating the voice command function. |
What languages are supported on voice to text? | Speech-to-text function is managed by Windows, so will use the language of the host PC. |
Is there training available for GoBoard Education? | Virtual and on-site training for GoBoard Education software is available through our authorised partners. |
How do I share my GoBoard Education with students that are learning from home? | GoBoard Education is compatible with leading video conferencing systems including Zoom, Skype, Meets, Teams, and many others. This allows the whiteboard to be viewed by any students that may be learning remotely. |
Can students learning remotely have write-access to a GoBoard Education session being shared from school? | Remote students would have view-only rights unless connected to the same network as the hub (e.g. via VPN). |
Can I use GoBoard Education with Zoom? | GoBoard Education is compatible with video conferencing systems including Zoom, Skype, Meets, Teams, and many others. This allows the whiteboard to be viewed by any students that may be learning remotely. |

What file formats are available for saving files? | Files can be saved as the native GoBoard Education file type known as the .RMG file in order to view as a future lesson plan as well as to add or edit content. Files can also be saved as a PDF for convenient sharing and reviewing. |
Can I annotate on a PDF and save it? | Yes, you can annotate directly on a PDF and save it. At the end of the whiteboard session, you will have the option to save both the original PDF as well as the annotated PDF. |
Can student access be restricted to view-only? | Yes, upon connection to the GoBoard Education session, students are in view-only mode. The teacher may grant up to four users at any given time Write access from the Teacher Console. |
Can students add files from their device to the GoBoard Education canvas? | Yes, once students have been granted write-access to the lesson by the teacher, they can write, erase, add image and video files to the canvas. |
Can students mirror their device to the GoBoard Education display? | Yes, students can cast their screen to the whiteboard canvas from Windows PC, Chromebooks, Android devices. |
Is there a student app for MAC computers? | No, there is not a student app available for Mac computers at this time. |
